A total of 39 Bangladeshi nationals were repatriated from the United States and arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Saturday (August) morning, according to immigration authorities.

An official from the airport's immigration police confirmed the arrival, stating the individuals were returned following detention in the U.S. for immigration-related violations, including illegal stay.

A Bangladeshi diplomat in Washington previously confirmed the scheduled return, noting that the U.S. typically deports such detainees in phases. The repatriation process involves verifying identity and citizenship in cooperation with the Government of Bangladesh.

“Although up to 50 individuals were initially expected, only 39 could be returned this time,” the diplomat said.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Washington had earlier informed the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka about the group, part of ongoing deportation and immigration enforcement coordination between the two countries.
