Special operation to arrest criminals begins today

Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs, has announced that a special—or combing—operation to arrest criminals and terrorists will begin today (July 13).

He made the announcement on Sunday (July 13) while speaking to reporters following a meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Law and Order held at the Secretariat.

The adviser said that law enforcement agencies are already conducting regular operations targeting crimes such as murder, theft, robbery, extortion, mugging, terrorism, abduction, violence against women, mob violence, and drug smuggling. Depending on the situation, the government may launch special or combing operations at any time to arrest identified criminals and terrorists.

He emphasized that cooperation from the general public and all sectors is essential. The government will take strict action against any activity that threatens public order and safety.

When asked when the combing operation would begin, he replied, “It starts from today.”
