Information and Broadcasting Advisor Mahfuz Alam has stated that the Awami League was not a political party but a mafia organization, and they will never be allowed to rise politically.

He made these remarks on Tuesday (April 1st) during an Eid greetings exchange with families of the disappeared and murdered at Tejgaon in the capital.

The Information Advisor claimed that Sheikh Hasina, along with over a lakh (100,000) Awami League leaders and activists, are conspiring against the country while residing in India.

He alleged that during the previous government's tenure, disappearances and murders were politically motivated decisions, carried out by special teams. He further claimed that the police, RAB (Rapid Action Battalion), and all others were ordered to commit disappearances.

Mahfuz Alam asserted that "Aynaghar" (torture cells) existed throughout the country, and countless people were victims of enforced disappearances. He also alleged that many people with opposing views were disappeared and trafficked to Indian jails.

The Information and Broadcasting Advisor further said that there is no accurate count of disappearances, but a list is being prepared with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He stated that everyone with differing ideologies, including BNP-Jamaat, were victims of Sheikh Hasina.
