Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has stated that the Election Commission does not wish to engage in politics under any circumstances.

He made this statement during a ceremony at the Election Commission building in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Sunday (January 19), where the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) handed over laptops, scanners, and other equipment to the CEC for updating the voter list.

The CEC said, "The Election Commission does not want to get involved in politics. The current EC is committed to holding free, fair, and impartial elections, with many expectations from the people. The voter list will be updated transparently to dispel any doubts among the public."

AMM Nasir Uddin emphasized that the Election Commission intends to operate within the framework of the constitution, not under any political party. The EC is moving towards the elections as per the government's timeline.

At the event, UNDP's Resident Representative, Stefan Liller, mentioned that the UNDP is reviewing how it can assist in the elections and is holding discussions with political parties and various stakeholders to that end.
