As part of the government's efforts to bring dynamism to the police administration, the authorities concerned have appointed new Deputy Commissioners (DC) in 34 districts across the country.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification on Tuesday (September 10), saying that the order would come into effect immediately in the people’s interest.

Earlier, the interim government appointed DCs in 25 districts, and with this, a total of 59 districts got new DCs in the last two days.

Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government met a complete debacle on August 5 in the face of student-people mass upsurge.

Later on 8 August, Prof Muhammad Yunus-led interim government took charge of the country to fill up an administrative vacuum.

Since then, the incumbent administration has been hatching efforts to take the country forward through necessary reform with the state mechanism.

And the recent reshuffle in the police administration is a part of the efforts.
