Unidentified miscreants reportedly fired one round of bullets at the tourist vehicle on Dighinala-Sajek road in Shuknachhari area of Khagrachari on Monday noon.

No casualties, however, were reported during the incident.

Mohammad Nurul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dighinala Police Station, said miscreants opened fire on the tourist car when it reached Shuknavhari area on the way to Sajek in Rangamati on Monday. They also vandalized a Mahendra car, a pickup van and a private car carrying tourists during that time.

He said being informed the army and police rescued the tourists immediately and took them to the army's Baghaihat zone. Later, they were taken to their destination under the protection of law enforcers.

Meanwhile, UPDF Prasit Bikash Group enforced daylong road blockade programme in the district on Monday, protesting the killing of its four members on December 11 in remote area of Panchari upazila.

All types of vehicular movements on inter-district and district internal roads have been stopped due to the blockade.
