Nasiruddin Patwary Labels BNP Candidate Mirza Abbas ‘Country’s Number One Criminal’

National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator and Dhaka-8 constituency candidate Nasiruddin Patwary has accused BNP leader Mirza Abbas of being Bangladesh’s “number one criminal and godfather,” escalating political tensions ahead of the election.

Speaking to journalists during a campaign event at Kamalapur Railway Station on Wednesday, Patwary alleged that his campaign was obstructed and harassed. “We are not against any party or individual. We are fighting against a system of extortion and terrorism,” he said.

Patwary further accused Mirza Abbas of controlling educational institutions and overseeing extortion networks across the constituency, calling these allegations “open secrets” among local residents.

He also criticized the Election Commission, claiming it had already sided with loan defaulters and corrupt figures before election day. “This raises serious questions about the fairness of the electoral process,” Patwary added.

Political observers warn that such strong rhetoric could intensify tensions in Dhaka-8 as election day approaches.
