The Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Tarek Rahman, today (20 January) held a courtesy meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Alexander Grigoryevich Khozin. The meeting took place in the morning at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan, the capital.

Present at the meeting were BNP Joint Secretary General Humayun Kabir, International Affairs Secretary Rashedul Haque, Press Secretary Saleh Shibli, and Adviser Mahdi Amin. During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral relations, the political situation, and ongoing issues, sources said.

According to sources, such meetings generally involve exchanges of views on Bangladesh–Russia relations, investment, cultural and economic cooperation, and the upcoming national election. Although no detailed, issue-specific information about the meeting was disclosed, political observers believe it has created scope for critical discussions on nuanced aspects of political and diplomatic relations.

The meeting was held in the context of strengthening relations between political parties and foreign diplomatic representatives, as international embassies are regularly engaging in dialogue and exchanging views with political parties.
