Foreign Adviser Md Touhid Hossain has said that Bangladesh maintains good relations with the international community, and there is no external pressure regarding the election.

He made the remarks while speaking to journalists after a view-exchange meeting with heads of government offices in Munshiganj on Saturday.

The foreign adviser said the government itself is organising the election.

“The timeframe is short. The government will hold the election by February 12 and hand over power to an elected government. Therefore, there is no question of foreign pressure,” he added.

How other countries choose to maintain relations with Bangladesh is their own matter, he said.

Regarding the repatriation of those involved in the Osman Hadi killing, Touhid Hossain said there is no scope for rushing the judicial process. Efforts are underway to bring back those involved in the killing. Although there is information that the suspects are in India, their exact whereabouts are unknown. If their location is confirmed, the Indian government would be requested to apprehend them.

The adviser said that justice cannot be bound by a fixed timeline. The government will make every effort to bring the accused to trial as soon as possible.
